PM’s Statement at Gwarko Flyover Opening

All distinguished dignitaries present here, all sisters and brothers, as well as all sisters and brothers who could not be present here but are watching this program through various media!

Today is a matter of joy. This type of flyover has been constructed for the first time in Nepal, and today it has been successfully inaugurated. Now the problems including traffic jams in Gwarko will be solved or have already been solved.

On this occasion, I want to congratulate and thank all friends. Especially, I want to thank the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the Department of Roads, and other contractor companies, and all the dignitaries who contributed to this.

As mentioned earlier by the contractor company, there was some delay in construction. I want to express heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all sisters and brothers who showed understanding in this matter.

This type of work has been accomplished with great success in Nepal. First experience, first attempt, and I must say it was completed almost on time. I want to especially thank the contractor company. We have praised them. I think the praise is appropriate.

We are continuously moving forward on the path of development. Just yesterday, news came that gained widespread importance in today’s newspapers. That news is about methane gas discovered in Dailekh that could last Nepal at least 50 years. From one of the three wells, 112 billion cubic meters of gas has been found, which could last Nepal for 50 years. We learned this happy news, and just like starting this flyover, I also initiated that project.

We are advancing the Dhaulagiri Iron Factory. As soon as the Dhaulagiri Iron Factory is completed, we will establish iron, steel, and other factories here that will last Nepal for hundreds of years, and we will establish processing factories. This will greatly advance the country’s economy.

The methane gas from Dailekh will be extracted and produced, which means the foreign currency that goes abroad will remain in Nepal. We won’t have to import unprocessed or less processed, low-quality items from abroad. We will benefit greatly financially from this. Many will get employment, many will find work within Nepal. Similarly, we will inaugurate other factories and other minerals. We are working on this side as well.

Similarly, we are working extensively on agricultural modernization, and agricultural modernization is underway. The country is entering a new phase. This is another aspect.

In terms of industry, more industries have been established now than before and are progressing. Some traditional industries may not have operated naturally. Some of those industries became outdated, while some non-outdated industries are still running. The magnesium industry – we are now trying to operate it again. We will also advance that magnesium industry.

Regarding Bataghata, the Postal Highway is changing the southern face of the Terai, changing the entire face of the Terai. There have been problems with some bridges. Some roads could not be prepared due to national parks. We will prepare those within some time, and this will transform the entire Terai from Mechi to Mahakali. It will bring great change. We have undertaken major irrigation projects. Sunkoshi Marine Diversion and irrigation of 185,000 bighas or 122,000 hectares of land in various districts of the Terai, especially in five districts, and where one crop was grown in the Terai, we will grow three crops and increase production at more than double the rate – we are doing this work too. We are advancing many other such works.

In the social sector, in the field of education, in the field of health, we are building hospitals. The condition of hospitals is not the same as before. Therefore, we understand this situation not as normal, but as a state where a country wants to gain momentum, wants to take a leap, and we are moving forward accordingly.

Madan Bhandari Highway, Mid-Hill (Pushpalal) Highway, and developing the East-West Highway to Asian standards, developing it as a four-lane, six-lane highway – we are doing these works.

Thus, we are developing the country in a multidimensional and comprehensive manner and will continue to do so. I want to tell all brothers and sisters that we are not doing this in just one sector, but in many sectors, we are developing.

Regarding expanding this ring road, in the second phase from Kalanki to Maharajgunj, through flyovers in other places, overpasses or underpasses – both types of methods – we are trying to end traffic jams. The general Nepali people are seeing this, understanding this, how the country is moving forward on the path of development.

Now some people have pain and worry about development happening. I want to urge that no one should have pain and worry about development happening. The country must develop, the country is developing, the country will be developed. From village level to municipal level to provincial and central level, governments at all three levels from federal level must focus on development and construction work. They must focus on bringing change in people’s lives. Political parties and people’s representatives must lead in driving development forward for the people. Similarly, administration and various government bodies must move forward focusing on development and good governance. This is today’s time and today’s demand. We are moving forward according to this and will continue to move forward. I also want to urge everyone to move forward like this.

We must not create despair within ourselves under any circumstances. Not dissatisfaction and despair, but with optimism – we can do it, we ourselves can do it. We widened this ring road, we started this, widened it, built a flyover. Therefore, we celebrate these successes of building these flyovers. We will continue working to achieve such successes. I want to thank you all very much. This has been a great success. We will expand such successes to other places as well. We are building bridges in various parts of various countries. We are building roads. Natural disasters come, floods somewhere, landslides somewhere, and they destroy again. But we don’t give up. We build them even stronger and transform our country into an accessible country. We have already transformed from an inaccessible country to an accessible country. There was a drinking water problem throughout the country. We have brought river water to hills throughout the country through pumping methods, or today we have brought schools, colleges, campuses, universities, hospitals to villages. We are expanding ambulance services, and all these are the first conditions of infrastructure. We are working in the fields of communication and electricity. Therefore, I want to urge, brothers and sisters, you should be confident that the government will lead in the country’s development work and expects your support. The government is working, and I want to thank our bureaucracy, the efforts of the bureaucracy, the efforts of the workers who have contributed to this work, I want to thank everyone. Thanking the engineers and all types of contributors, I conclude my statement here.
