The 90th General Assembly of Interpol begins today



The 90th session of the Interpol General Assembly is being held in New Delhi from today. The event, which runs till October 21, provides an opportunity to showcase the best practices in India’s law and order system to the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 90th Interpol General Assembly today, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

The meeting will be attended by delegations from 195 Interpol member states, including ministers, national police chiefs, heads of national central bureaus and senior police personnel.

The General Assembly, Interpol’s highest governing body, meets once a year to make important decisions about how the organization will operate.

The General Assembly meeting of Interpol is being held in India after a gap of 25 years.

The General Assembly overwhelmingly accepted India’s proposal to host the Interpol General Assembly in New Delhi in 2022 to mark the country’s 75th independence anniversary.
