6.8 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan, China, 65 dead



65 people were killed in a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Luding County of southwest China’s Sichuan Province on Monday.

Xinhua reported that 37 people died in Ganji and 28 people in Ya’an city due to the earthquake. In Ganji, 12 people are missing and 170 people are injured, including 56 seriously injured.
Due to the earthquake, communication has been cut off in the settlements. Landslides have also occurred in some places.

President Xi’s directive to save lives and minimize damage after the earthquake

Chinese President Xi Jinping has instructed to continue all efforts to save the lives of the people affected by the earthquake in southwest China’s Sichuan province on Monday and to reduce further human losses.

Xi instructed the Ministry of Emergency Management and other departments to send relief teams to Sichuan and actively support the People’s Liberation Army and the People’s Armed Police Force.
